An analysis of the consequences of the July thunderstorm front, problematic issues and approaches to their solution were considered today at a meeting of the Commission on Emergency Situations under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak. The meeting was attended by Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergei Maslyak.
“Our event today raises questions of assessing the actions of emergency subsystems. First of all, regional and sectoral subsystems. There are questions that we need to work on. This will all be reflected in the minutes of the meeting,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Anatoly Sivak emphasized that it is necessary to assess how the system of ensuring the life support of the population is prepared to withstand the impact of the elements: “We must draw conclusions. The main task of today’s meeting is to work on mistakes and to minimize the consequences of emergency situations in the future.”
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that technical standards, including in construction, had been assessed since the first day of the disaster. “The main problem is the 330 kV lines, which were disabled due to the fall of a common support. In this regard, standards have already been determined that need to be changed,” he emphasized.
