On September 12-13, 2024, the XXVII session of the Intergovernmental Council on Exploration, Use and Protection of Subsoil Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Intergovernmental Council) was held in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic). The session was attended by members of the Intergovernmental Council and representatives from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and a representative of the CIS Executive Committee.
The main mission of the above-mentioned Council is to determine priority areas of cooperation, coordinate and implement a coordinated policy in the field of study, exploration and use of mineral resources.
The Council members presented detailed information on the results of the work of the geological services of the CIS member states for the period from September 2023 to September 2024 on the implementation of the decisions of the XXVI session of the Intergovernmental Council, on the progress of the implementation of the Long-Term Plan for Joint Work of the CIS Member States on Exploration for 2023–2030.
The heads of delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan presented progress reports on the work done in 2023-2024.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Galanov reported on the progress of work on the implementation of the measures of the Long-term plan of joint work on exploration, use and protection of subsoil in the Republic of Belarus.
