The heads of the environmental departments of Belarus and Mongolia discussed issues of scientific cooperation

During the talks between the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Maslyak and the Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia B.Bat-Erdene, issues of scientific cooperation were also discussed.

In particular, Sergey Maslyak recalled that earlier, in the interests of the Mongolian side, within the framework of an agreement with the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research, a research work was carried out on the topic “Humic preparations based on peat, coal for the green development of desert territories, environmental protection.”

The aim of the work was to theoretically and experimentally substantiate the composition of humic preparations as natural compounds for the green development of the desert territories of Mongolia.

The head of the Belarusian environmental protection agency handed over to his Mongolian colleague a report containing theoretical results of the work, including a preliminary assortment of woody plants resistant to moisture deficiency, soil salinization and other unfavorable soil and climatic conditions close to those of Mongolia.

The practical part of this work has not been implemented. Sergey Maslyak suggested continuing work in this direction – the developed range of salt- and drought-resistant plants should be tested directly in specific natural and climatic conditions of the regions of Mongolia.
