The International Conference of Free Economic Zones “Development of Industrial Hubs Based on the Principles of Environmental Neutrality” is being held in Mogilev on September 26–27.
The event started with an exhibition of companies manufacturing equipment and providing services for environmental protection. The exhibition presented such thematic sections as waste recycling, wastewater treatment, scientific research in the field of ecology, environmental education and awareness, successful cases of enterprises.
Welcoming the conference participants, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Maslyak noted that the very name of the event speaks of its significance and timeliness.
“On the one hand, environmental neutrality is a principle according to which the activities of economic entities should not have a negative impact on the environment, and on the other hand, it is an indicator that all our enterprises should strive to achieve. In the current difficult conditions, free economic zones continue to be an effective tool for the accelerated development of the regions of our country. At the same time, being a driver of regional economic development, free economic zones, when forming business projects, should also take into account the principles of an environmentally responsible economy, and implement measures aimed at increasing environmental efficiency,” the Minister emphasized.
We are talking about minimizing the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment, reducing the risk of pollution and increasing the resource and energy efficiency of production. Priority should be given to the use of secondary resources.
