Today, the Minsk Zoo celebrates its 40th anniversary. Many distinguished guests came to congratulate the institution, including the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergei Maslyak.
The zoo’s collection, which dates back to August 9, 1984, contains about 400 species of exotic animals and rare representatives of the fauna. In June, a new ward appeared here – the tiger cub Sinbad, who was transferred from the Amur Tiger Center in Khabarovsk Krai.
Addressing the staff of the organization, the head of the environmental protection agency emphasized that the Minsk Zoo is not just a place for entertainment, it is a real center for the conservation and protection of endangered species of animals, thanks to the selfless work of the people working here, their dedication to the cause and sincere love for our smaller brothers, a real oasis of living nature has been created.
“Over four decades, the zoo has become a real pearl of the Belarusian capital, a place of attraction for thousands of people who come here to enjoy communication with animals, relax and recharge with positive emotions,” the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources noted. “Day after day, you make an invaluable contribution to the preservation of biodiversity, environmental education and the development of a caring attitude towards the world around us. Your work evokes deep respect and admiration.”
For fruitful and conscientious work and high professionalism, the Minister presented well-deserved awards to representatives of the Minsk Zoo.
Deputy Director Andrei Kastyuk was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.
Leading zootechnician Alevtina Krasovskaya received a Letter of Gratitude from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.
