September 22, 2024 – Car Free Day

Every year on September 22, World Car-Free Day is celebrated, which sets an important goal – to draw attention to the excessive flow of cars and their negative impact on the environment. This international action has established itself as a significant event in the fight for clean air and sustainable urban development.
In the Republic of Belarus, the “Car-Free Day” campaign was first held on September 22, 2008. It was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, with the active support of local executive committees. Over time, the campaign became a tradition, promoting environmental awareness among citizens.
In 2024, as part of the republican environmental campaign “Car-Free Day”, special conditions are provided for motorists: travel on public transport will be free. To do this, it is enough to show the conductor a driver’s license and a vehicle registration certificate.
The celebration will also include a bike ride called “Belarus for Clean Air” in Hugo Chavez Park. This event will be a great opportunity to unite people who are striving for a healthier lifestyle and an eco-conscious approach to moving around the city.
Car Free Day is not just an opportunity to spend one day without cars, it is a chance to understand how our daily habits affect the environment. Participation in this campaign allows everyone to contribute to improving air quality and creating a comfortable urban environment.
