On current environmental protection costs for 2023

In 2023, the current costs of the republic’s organizations for environmental protection amounted to 1,039.5 million rubles, or in comparable prices 108.6% of the 2022 level, according to  the official website of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

In the structure of environmental protection costs, the largest share falls on wastewater management – ​​46.3% (480.9 million rubles), waste management – ​​28.9% (300.8 million rubles), air protection and climate change prevention – 20.7% (214.9 million rubles).

The bulk of current costs traditionally falls on manufacturing enterprises (51.9%), organizations involved in water supply, as well as waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities (25.7%), and organizations involved in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning (13.6%).

In 2023, the largest amounts of money for environmental protection measures were spent by organizations in the Gomel (271.9 million rubles, or 26.2% of the total in the republic), Vitebsk (159.2 million rubles, or 15.3%) and Minsk (157.9 million rubles, or 15.2%) regions.
