Wood processing production workshops have been created and are operating on the territory of three sites of the institution. “They are fully provided with raw materials of their own production. We take the forest in the experimental-economic zone. We conduct its radiation survey without fail, on the basis of which we carry out further felling, the timber is delivered to the workshops,” said the director of the reserve Alexey Tishkovets.
Last year, about 12 thousand cubic meters of round timber were processed, 6.5 thousand cubic meters of sawn timber were obtained, which were sold on the domestic market, as well as for export to Russia. “There are no problems with sales, the market is reviving. The order is mainly formed by Russian partners. 200-210 cubic meters of products per month. From July 1, we plan to increase this volume. The reserve has all the conditions, capacities, and labor resources for this,” the head of the institution emphasized.
This year, the modernization of woodworking shops continues. Thus, a band saw machine was launched at the Khoyniki site. This will allow us to increase the volume of round timber processing by 4 thousand cubic meters by the end of the year. “Accordingly, there will be an increase in sawn timber, which will also affect revenue. Thanks to the commissioning of this machine, we have additionally created eight jobs – people work at the sawmill. And this is just the beginning. The prospects are clearly defined, and further modernization is planned. Thus, a new, more productive sawmill will be purchased for the Braginsky site. We plan to increase the volume of timber products from 12 thousand cubic meters to 16 thousand,” he outlined the prospects.
Also, such experimental activities as beekeeping, horse breeding, fishing, and excursions are carried out on the territory of the reserve. In addition, a nursery operates on the basis of the Khoyniki section of the institution, where the population can purchase seedlings of fruit and ornamental plants.
