From September 16 to 22, 2023, Belarus will host Mobility Week, culminating in Car-Free Day. This initiative aims to draw attention to the problems of air pollution and motivate citizens to use more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. The main goal of the campaign is to reduce emissions into the atmosphere, which largely come from motor vehicles.
Minsk will host an extensive information campaign dedicated to the Mobility Week and the environmental campaign “Car-Free Day. Belarus for Clean Air”. Special events and lectures aimed at raising awareness of the air pollution problem will be held in educational institutions and other venues in the city.
An experiment to measure the concentration of pollutants in the air will also be held in Minsk from September 21 to 22. This monitoring, conducted since 2016, allows tracking changes in the state of the city’s atmosphere.
One of the key themes of Mobility Week will be the promotion of alternative transport. Residents are encouraged to think about the negative impact of cars on the environment and their role in deteriorating air quality, and all motorists will be encouraged to give preference to public transport, bicycles, scooters and other means of individual mobility.
The best way to celebrate Car Free Day is to refuse to use a car and choose public transport or alternative means of transportation. Join us!
