Minister Andriy Khudyk: “The introduction of eco-technologies allows us to prevent environmental challenges”

The head of the Belarusian environmental protection agency Andrei Khudyk took part in the round table “Progressive eco-technologies as a global trend in business and state development” during the XIII International Forum “ATOMEXPO-2024”.

In his speech, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus informed about the state policy being implemented in the country in the field of waste management and recycling, wastewater treatment, prevention of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere, and energy recovery.

The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources especially noted that it was thanks to the active support of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko and the attention paid to environmental protection issues at the highest level that it became possible to effectively implement eco-technologies with the participation of all stakeholders: from government agencies to business entities.

Andrei Khudyk outlined the most important trends in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus that contribute to the transition to a new resource-efficient economic model – a closed-loop economy: the introduction of energy-efficient eco-technologies and equipment that help reduce the volume of waste generation, increase the level of their recycling, involve renewable energy sources in the fuel and energy balance, and actively develop electric transport and electric charging infrastructure.

In conclusion of his speech, the Minister emphasized: “Modern scientifically based eco-technologies and innovative solutions allow us to effectively implement economic, energy and social tasks while simultaneously reducing the negative impact on the environment and ensuring sustainable development.”

In a blitz survey, Andrey Khudyk emphasized that one of the tasks facing the environmental protection agency is to involve as many participants as possible in solving environmental problems, as well as to introduce eco-friendly behavior into everyday practice. The Minister once again stated at an international platform that ecology should be outside of politics, and the most modern technologies that reduce anthropogenic pressure on the environment should be available to all countries of the world, regardless of their level of political and socio-economic development.
