“We have to discuss the most pressing issues in the sphere of national security frankly and, most importantly, like men. Assess the real situation in and around Belarus as objectively as possible, without embellishment,” the Head of State said at the beginning of the meeting.
The President stressed that the participants of the event, each at their own level, are aware of the situation. “Let’s look at the situation through the prism of existential threats. Threats that did not arise today or yesterday. You know that it is not enough to see them – you need to understand the global political situation, objectively assess the causes and prerequisites. Especially now, when the world has once again come to the brink of the abyss,” the Belarusian leader said.
Alexander Lukashenko noted the need to synchronize watches at the meeting, to assess how ready the country’s security bloc is for possible provocations and non-standard situations during the upcoming political campaigns, taking into account the situation in the region and the world. “Of course, we know our strengths, but it is more important to see where we need to improve, where we need to strengthen ourselves based on modern realities. These are the issues that need to be emphasized in our reports to key ministers of the security bloc. We must be as prepared as possible to neutralize risks and threats,” the Head of State said.
He drew attention to the growing trend in the number of hot spots. Last year alone, more than 25 military conflicts were unleashed or continued in different regions on different continents, and almost every one is used as a pretext to introduce a peacekeeping contingent. “You know why. To deploy people with weapons, to designate a zone of influence. That is, the world is methodically turning into a testing ground for global confrontation,” the President noted.
