Today in Smorgon, a ceremonial opening of a memorial to the victims of the First World War took place, which is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War.
The Director of the Republican Center for State Environmental Expertise, Training, Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Bulak, and the specialist of the State Environmental Expertise Department for the Grodno Region, Pavel Yashchenko, took part in this significant event.
Alexander Alexandrovich emphasized the importance of perpetuating memory, and also noted the significance of instilling in young people a sense of patriotism and respect for the history of our country.
The Department of State Environmental Expertise for the Grodno Region also contributed to the opening of the memorial by issuing a conclusion on the compliance of the construction project being accepted for operation with the permit and design documentation (in terms of environmental expertise) “Construction of a memorial complex along the line of confrontation of 1915-1917 in the First World War in the city of Smorgon” was issued by the Department of State Environmental Expertise for the Grodno Region.
The event attracted many guests, including veterans, the younger generation and local residents who came to pay their respects. A minute of silence was observed during the ceremony to honor the memory of all those who lost their lives in the name of peace.
