Today, the head of the environmental protection agency, Andrey Khudyk, held a reception for citizens, including individual entrepreneurs, their representatives, and representatives of legal entities in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
The key topic of discussion was the improvement of public recreation areas on the environmental initiative of citizens – one of the residents of Borisov once again approached the Minister with this issue.
On October 4, 2023, the applicant had already applied to the Ministry of Natural Resources with a request to allow him to carry out work on the improvement and sanitary cleaning of the coastal strip of the Berezina River (in the area of 1 July Street in Borisov) from silt and sand deposits of storm sewers. These works were planned to be carried out at the citizens’ own expense.
Following the consideration of the application, the applicant was given a response explaining the procedure for performing such works, with recommendations for determining a clear list of works planned for implementation. The citizen was also informed about the list of works related to the maintenance of water bodies in proper condition and their improvement, the implementation of which does not require the presence of design documentation that has passed the state environmental assessment.
At the same time, the position of the Ministry of Natural Resources was expressed on supporting the applicant’s initiative to improve and clean the coastal strip of the Berezina River in compliance with the requirements of environmental legislation.
According to the citizen, when preparing the necessary documentation for the work, the Borisov District Executive Committee, the body overseeing improvement issues in the region, put forward a requirement to involve specialized organizations for additional examination and assessment of possible changes in natural conditions.
Having listened carefully to the applicant, Andrey Khudyk noted that the Ministry of Natural Resources always supports citizens’ initiatives if they are for the benefit of nature. “Within its competence, the department is ready to facilitate such types of work, including providing consulting services,” he summed up. “At the same time, we demand compliance with environmental legislation, which in this case does not interfere with the implementation of the planned work. The issue should be resolved exclusively at the level of local executive and administrative bodies.
