The industry scientific and practical conference “Harmonization of regulatory framework for scientifically based measures of environmental safety and adaptation to climate change within the Union State” is taking place today, January 24, in Minsk. The event is timed to coincide with the Day of Belarusian Science.
As the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk noted during the event, many good traditions have emerged in Belarus over the years of independence:
The celebration of the Day of Belarusian Science, introduced 30 years ago by our President, is not just a tradition, but the foundation of the country’s competitiveness. In Belarus, science is given special attention. This is important, since the country is not so rich in accessible natural resources. Therefore, innovation and science intensity are our strong point, on which we hold our own on the world market.
As for the holidays, according to the minister, many events are held in the country. And the scientific and practical conference is one of them. Its relevance is due to the need to solve modern global environmental problems and challenges.
The head of the department reminded that the Ministry of Natural Resources includes 5 scientific organizations, including the RUE “Bel NIC “Ecology”, the State Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center for Geology”, the RUE “Central Research Institute for the Complex Use of Water Resources”, Belhydromet, the Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve, as well as 190 scientists. They provide scientific support to 14 areas for which the Ministry of Natural Resources is responsible. This is the complex rational use of water resources, hydrometeorology, development of the country’s mineral resource base, and much more.
Our conference can be called international, since we cooperate very closely with our neighbors, especially with the Russian Federation, – Andrey Khudyk emphasized. – We have common union programs that allow us to take the areas that the Ministry of Natural Resources deals with to a new level. And today we will discuss issues that need to be resolved together.
He also expressed gratitude to the Belarusian universities participating in the event. In particular, the department is working with them to resolve issues of human resources, young scientists and their future.
At all times, science has been a powerful resource for economic and social transformations, the most important component of national wealth, the driving force of technical progress, – noted Andrei Khudyk. – And Belarusian science today is an important component of our national security. The Ministry of Natural Resources keeps the issue under control and creates the necessary working conditions for scientists to solve the tasks set before the Ministry of Natural Resources by the Head of State.
