
Today, the Belarusian environmental protection agency hosted a meeting between the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Maslyak and the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China Chen Chenzhao.
The main topic of the negotiations was the further prospects for deepening Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the field of geology, the possibility of studying China’s experience in geological exploration, including geological mapping, as well as organizing training courses (internships) for Belarusian specialists at geological exploration sites.
During the meeting, Sergey Maslyak expressed confidence that the current visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China will not only contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the geological sphere, but will also help to identify new areas of joint activity in the field of rational (sustainable) nature management.
On September 20, 2023, during the visit of the delegation of the Belarusian environmental protection agency to China, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of geology was signed between the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Production Center for Geology” of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus and the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China.
Currently, the draft Agreement on the activities of the Joint Chinese-Belarusian Center for Cooperation in Geological Sciences at the Research Center for Cooperation in Geological Sciences of China and the SCO between the Xi’an Center of the Chinese Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China and the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Production Center for Geology” of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus is at the final stage of approval.

“A joint Chinese-Belarusian center for cooperation in the field of geological sciences will appear in our country by the end of this year on the basis of the Scientific and Production Center for Geology,” informed Sergei Maslyak. “Within the framework of the Center, there will be an exchange of experience, as well as the development of new innovative technologies, and the application of new scientific approaches.”
The visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China to our country continued with a visit to the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University. Representatives of the Chinese side and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus met with the leadership of the faculty and BSU, and also visited the Museum of Geosciences of the Belarusian State University.
