In order to further improve the quality of life of the Belarusian people, ensure the competitiveness of the national economy on the world stage, stimulate initiative, form responsibility in society for the results of their work and a sense of involvement in the future of the country, the President of the Republic of Belarus declared 2024 the Year of Quality. The corresponding Decree No. 375 of November 27, 2023 was signed by the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko.
The Year of Quality focuses on increasing Belarus’ competitiveness through careful and thoughtful use of resources, implementation of high-tech and energy-intensive projects, and priority of quality indicators over quantitative ones. Efforts are focused on ensuring quality indicators by stimulating initiative, introducing rationalization ideas, strengthening social optimism in society, and the desire to create for the common good. Priority attention is given to developing personal responsibility in citizens for achieving a high quality of life (sufficient income, timely medical examination, healthy nutrition, good education, cultural leisure).
The document provides for 69 events aimed at strengthening the economic potential of Belarus, ensuring quality indicators through stimulating initiative, forming personal civic responsibility for achieving a high quality of life, and information support for the Year of Quality. Their goals, mechanisms, and implementation deadlines, as well as responsible executors, are also defined. The State Committee for Standardization is authorized to coordinate the activities of government agencies and other organizations to implement the plan.
